The Alinari Archives are pleased to announce the opening of Alinari National Museum of Photography.


"Finally a dream we have nurtured for years has become reality", added presidents Claudio de Polo, "An outstanding historical Florentine firm such as Fratelli Alinari, known throughout the world, is proud to finally give Italy its national museum of photography."

The new museum will be located in Piazza Santa Maria Novella in the historical Leopoldine complex, with 7 sections full of rare pictures, instruments and precious vintage objects whom beauty will be outlined by the scenographic formulation of the Oscar winning film director Giuseppe Tornatore. Contemporaneously will open the exhibit Vu d'Italie, 1841-1941. The great Masters of Italian photography in the Alinari collections and last but not least the museum will present the touch tour for the blind, a collection of 20 pictures re-created in relief to be seen by the blind through touch. It is a first of its kind experiment, in collaboration with the Stamperia Braille of the Region of Tuscany.

Will be honoured to have you at the following celebrations and professional meetings:

- Saturday the 28th of October, 11 a.m. - Press Conference - Convento Leopoldine, Piazza Santa Maria Novella.

- Sunday the 29th of October, 11 a.m. - Museum Public Opening

- Wednesday the 22nd and Saturday the 25th of November , 11 a.m. - Journée Professionnelle - Introduction and tour to the Museum and Archives by Alinari curators and researches.


All events will end with cocktail party.
